I have a 65 wide bed and I installed the tank out of an 86.It was a pain to do but I wanted rid of the firebomb. It's hard to believe but the 19 gallon tank tucks snugly into the 65 frame. If you combine the 86 crossmembers and the 65's and a lot ofcutting and welding it will fit. There won't be more than aninch clearance anywhere.I cut out the fill door and some flat sheetmetal from the donor and stitched it in.I had to notch the bed inside to clear the fill tube. Then you notice the parking brake is onthat side and have to reverse all that.Is it worth it?Was for me but alot more work than putting a tank in theback where the spare tire went.
