Hi everyone,im new to the site.I have a question for you.I bought a 96 Ranger Extended Cab a few months ago.Just after i bought it i wrecked it.I got broad sided in the bed by a four dodge 3/4 ton.I need a new bed but my question is,can i use a bed from a regular cab truck or does it have to be an extended cab? Also did they make a long and short bed extended cab?
There are three beds. LWB 7' only on regular cabs. 6' bed used on SWB regular cabs and all super cabs. 6' flare side bed used on some SWB regular cabs and some super cabs. There are no long bed 7' super cabs. I think the body style changed in 1993 so you could use a 93 or newer bed. There might be tail light opening changes for some years, you will have to check that. Also, 4x4 style side beds will have holes along the wheel openings to attach fender flares not used on 4x2, so you will need a bed to match what ever you have, 4x2 or 4x4.
Mine is 4x2 fleet side. Thanks for the info, very insightful.I guess i need to measure my bed to insure that what i buy will fit.I knew there were few changes visually but was not sure about what i could not see.So i knew that 95 through maybe 99 might work. This is all visual of course.Body parts are hard to find.I guess these trucks dont die easy. Most parts i have found have been wrecked trucks. However most wrecking yards want near what i paid for the truck.
I am in Texas but not looking for a flare side.My truck box wont fit but man thats a really good price.I found one local for 950 bucks.Cheapest i found around here.
