Need a procedure for console panel replacement
So, I would probably try to do it from the driver's side of the console. I think you could probably just follow what I posted, and then pick up with the 3rd page scan from TIKT B8's post to get under the console.
The Sirius tuner I installed in my wife's Prius was about the size of a paperback book. I assume this one is about the same and like I said, it's directly under the shifter near the floor (only about an inch or so off the carpet). Once you get to the point where you have the front cupholder trim off, you can see the mounting screws coming up from underneath for the inverted tuner. They are copper/brassy color and you can just make one out in my third pic next to the rear passenger side of the shifter base near the white wire where it bends around a wire tie.
Good luck!
They gave me about 10 feet of cable when I only needed about 2 or 3 so I stowed the rest in the small void underneath the console storage bin. I ran the rest to the front underneath the spot where the 12 volt and line in outlets are (as you suggested) and used velcro to adhere the module to the underside of that spot.
I ran the Ipod cable straight back alongside the other wires right through a small, drilled hole in the console box. Now the Ipod stays hidden in the storage box but is more easily accessible than it would be in the glove box.
Thank you again for your advice and I hope this works out. It would be my first interior install other than putting Jensen speakers in the rear of my dad's Cultlass back in 1981...
As I was closing the back of the console up I noticed a huge void between the floor and the storage bin - so ended up sticking the ipod module to the underside of the storage bin with the wiring neatly wound up underneath. This position is only about a foot behind the sirius module and is accessible from the back of the console when the rear piece is removed.
Knowing this from the start would have saved me about 3 hours of work but I learned a lot about my center console and what is under there anyway. Besides, the person who owned this before me managed to drop about $1.35 in change, a snack pack full of combos and a half a cup of coffee all over the inside of the console over the years. The actual cleaning took the most time.
I have a feeling that I would have been lost without the instructions and pictures that were posted here, so my thanks to sickpup and TIKT B8. I will try to take some picks and post them as soon as I have a chance to get back into the Expedition.
