Does anyone make this?

Looking for the clip that hold the coil springs to the frame with two bolts. Tried to get some at the boneyard, but they get mangled pulling them off due to rusty bolts. Does anyone sell these new? Thanks for any help.

Find a spring shop. They should have something I would think.

Please, when asking questions, list all the pertinent details.

Your "About Me" feature says 1966 F100. Is this 2WD or 4WD?

The coil springs do not mount to the frame. They sit on perches attached to the radius arms at the bottom, fits into boxes that are attached to the inner fender aprons at the top.

The shock absorbers fit thru the springs, attach to brackets that bolt to the radius arms at the bottom, with shouldered cups, rubber bushings and lock nuts above.

Where exactly are these supposed clips? EDIT: There is one rectanglar retainer per side (has two holes) in between the top of the coils, another pair at the bottom of the coils.

2WD is different than 4WD.

Numberdummy,

Referring to the clips that attach the spring to the box at the top...this is a 2wd truck. This appears to be the same part on all. Apologies for the lack of description. Some of us are merely hobbyists and have not done this as a career.

I well understand your hobbyist comment, however...

Since 1966 F100 4WD's were the first to have coil springs, the pertinent details I was referring to were...whether your truck is 2WD or 4WD .. because the parts are not the same.

2) C6TZ-5B300-F .. Coil Spring Upper Retainer / Obsolete

Fits: 1966/70 F100/250 2WD / 1971 F100/250 2WD before serial number L80,001.

GRIESEL MOTOR CO. in Okarche OK has ONE = 405-263-7242.

No other Ford Dealer, no obsolete parts vendor has any.

Should be a pretty easy item to find in drier states.

I have a few extra's but simply do not have the time for shipping right now. How big of hurry are you in?

Arizona, California or some in this neck of the woods they should be easy to find. Actually just sent 4 nice ones still on trucks off to the boneyard.

Boss,

Not in extremely big hurry...working on getting the rearend back under the frame right now. I'm just trying to make sure I have all parts needed when I go to put the disc brake front end on. I'm probably a month out from getting to it. I would greatly appreciate some help from a drier state. High humidity has not helped the slicks here in East Tennessee. Thanks for offering some help. Send me a PM and we can work out details.

Those clips don't look that complicated to make. Get some steel and cut them out, drill the holes, heat with a torch and bend to shape, prime and paint. Time consuming no doubt but satisfying.

Thanks Bill....I do appreciate the knowledge that you supply on this forum. I will definitely be at that show. It's hard to miss, when it's it my own backyard. Never have had tremendous luck finding parts I need there, but nonetheless, it's always worth a look. I do enjoy seeing projects other folks have meticulously completed; helps boost my motivation to keep going with my frame off restoration. Thanks for all the input.

1965/69 F100/250 2WD & 1969/70 F350: Illustration Section 30, Page 3 shows the entire front suspension in an exploded view.

Note the 5A306 upper spring seats that attach to the inner fender aprons that the springs nestle into and where the upper shock mounts.

The coil springs do not mount to the frame. They sit on perches attached to the radius arms at the bottom, fits into boxes that are attached to the inner fender aprons at the top. The coil springs do in fact mount to frame and in no way shape or form attach to the inner fender apron.

The shock absorbers fit thru the springs, attach to brackets that bolt to the radius arms at the bottom, with shouldered cups, rubber bushings and lock nuts above. The shocks DO NOT go thru springs but mount on back side of spring into frame.

Where exactly are these supposed clips? EDIT: There is one rectanglar retainer per side (has two holes) in between the top of the coils, another pair at the bottom of the coils.

2WD is different than 4WD.
Again refer to the Illustration section 30 page 3. It clearly shows different than what you are saying. The upper spring mount is part of frame. It has nothing to do with fender aprons.
