MAP Sensor T Fitting

Early 1999 F250 7.3 . I am installing a T fitting in the Map sensor line for my Boost gauge. Before I cut the line I would like to know what the ID of the map line is so I can have the proper barbed fitting on hand?? No place for delete plug on this early 99.

1/4" barbed fittings are what you need.

General rule of thumb.....Hose is almost always sized by Inside Diameter, while pipe or tubing is Outside Diameter.

Is it for a mechanical line or electronic sensor?

The you will need to make sure the T has one port that is 1/8" NPT threads for the sensor. You probably knew that but just want to make sure to save you a trip.

Sounds like you would be better off using an Threaded AIH Plug instead of the MAP line to get your boost.

I have a mechanical gauge and it worked out great!

Oops.... missed that! With a little drilling and tapping, a 1/8"-27 NPT port could be added for the price of a tap if you didn't already have one.

I wish I could use the delete plug but they left that out of the early 99's.... Looks like a clean setup.. I thought of tapping a new port but figured the MAP line would be less likely to go south....
