This isn't the first time this has happened: while driving my car will simply shut off. The engine cuts out but all the lights stay on and the dash lights come on. Last night, after two days of solid rain, I tried driving my car and after making a u-turn, I saw a small puff of white smoke from under my hood and then engine cut out. I got it back up and running instantly with no harm. It happened to me again today twice, both times the car starting up right away. I don't want to think it's the fuel pump because I just had it replaced. Any Idea?

Welcome to FTE and the Big Bronco Forum. We will do our best to get you the most accurate info we can.
With an 89, you should be able to pull codes to help with this. Run a KOEO and KOER test to determine what they are. If it just suddenly quits, you might check electrical connections at the ignition coil and the distributor first though.
And the next time you see a white puff of smoke... don't try to start the truck again inmediately... it probably was a short and in the worst case you could have even started a fire in the engine.
Thank you guys for the replies. Turns out my positive wire in my bronco had melted the shrink tubing around it and contacted the side of the truck. I have it patched up with electrical tape for the time being since I won't be able to get to a parts store until tomorrow morning.
