2002 Ford Explorer's engine dies while driving. After an unspecified length of time (2hours, 6 hours) the car will start again. This has happened 3 times, but after I had the car towed to the Ford dealer the car will not quit for the dealer so they will not do anything to fix it. Any suggestions as to what to do?
Thank you for your reply dogman.
No, I don't. I have the stock Ford Explorer system.
It is acting like a theft, but is doing it while in motion.
Regards.
Thank you for response, Rich.
To answer your questions:
When the engine dies the starter is not energized so it will not crank.
I believe that the check engine light comes on. It is running at this moment so I can not confirm this.
The car is not overheating.
The Ford dealer checked the PCM, but it was running when they tested it, and it did not report any fault codes.
