good evening everyone.
I'm hanging in there Matt, ty.
My younger brother connected me with a hiring manager and the manager told me where the job was posted, so I applied and see what develops.
Its up in Hartford, that's an hour and a quarter ride with good traffic.
Such is the price of work.
With diesel over four dollars a gallon again, I figure I need to buy a overdrive transmission for a commute like that.

I can't see getting ahead with owning three vehicles.
I figure the investment in an overdrive unit would equal a used commuter car.
Should I park my van, then it becomes more like a boat in the yard.
Should I sell my van then like a boat I won't get back much considering what I have sunk into it.
I rather be riding in my Ark, in the event of a collision I likely have the size & weight in my favor.

TDI FTW. Thing has paid for itself every month I have owned it. Ok, well not really, if you count mods.
At 8mpg in the 450, it doesn't take much driving for the 40mpg TDI to pay for itself.
Figure 50 miles one way, so 100 miles a day, at 10 mpg, is 10 gallons of fuel. At $3 a gallon, figured as a low average, you would spend $30/day in fuel. That would be $600/mo in fuel.
100 miles per day @ 40mpg, 2.5 gallons = $150 per month. The payment at 0% for 66 months is $392. There is a $50 savings a month, and that doesn't include maint. on the van, which would include oil changes, tires, repairs.
I made it work for me, but you have to want it bad enough. I did. It only gets better at $4/gal., and the more you drive.
