I was just wandering what diesel engine you Ford guys like most that IH made. 6.9 7.3 idi, 7.3 turbo diesel. 7.3 powerstroke,6.0 stroker?
I would have to say I like the 7.3 turbo diesel. They still have the mechanical pump like the 7.3 IdI but have a turbo also.
I also like the 12v cummins better when it comes to dodge. So as you can seen I like to be able to take apart my Injection system and do a little work if need be.
In the last 8 years, the only trucks I have purchased were 2000-2003 super dutys. The 7.3 powerstroke in those model years are flat out bullet proof. I buy used trucks between those years instead of a new one just because I have grown to love the reliability and enormous power of these trucks. All of my trucks have work done to the turbo, exhaust and computer and seeing that these are day-to-day work trucks repossessing everything from corollas to other super duty work trucks, we demand a lot from them. Check out the videos of my trucks if you want proof.
That's a very tuff question to answer. I believe if you stay on top of maintenance on all three of the motors you mentioned I think they will all be good in the long run. Heck out of all three of the truck's we have the 6.0 is the most reliable
LOL... I've done that before. Sometimes, old threads seem to pop up for some reason. After it happened the first time, I started looking at the dates more carefully. I haven't seen it happen in a while, but there was a time when year+ old threads would land on the top of the list.
Holy crap!! I think I need to go watch "The Mummy Returns" after seeing this ancient thread resurrected!
Well, dman asked a stupid question and he deserves an answer! My reply, you are on the 7.3 Powerstroke forum...I think you are going to get the same answer from most guys...
And if dman is still out there, wondering not wandering. One means to think while the other means to go get lost in the woods.
