I'm going repaint my truck after I redo all the body and junk. I'm to paint it black but I don't know if I should keep the explorer pinstrips white or a really really dark red. I want your opinion.
IMO...black repaints are too overdone...and they all seem to be done with red or silver accents. So red would be a no go for me. If you're sold on the black though... I think, if it were me, I'd go with darker orange explorer stripe, with a violet pin stripe around it. Or vice versa...do a subtle dark violet metallic explorer stripe with an orange pin stripe,
That said, I've always thought it would be cool to kind of integrate the explorer paint schem with the Boss 302 paint scheme. Kinda have a wide explorer stripe come from over the hood, and angle down and back (like the Boss scheme) to the body line where the racetrack trim would be, bring that all the way back.
Black always looks good, don't worry about what everyone else is doing. If it were me, I'd have simpler striping than what it has now, if I were redoing the truck.
For me, the striping is always there to break up the truck, add character to the body. If it doesn't stand out a little, it might as well not be there. Dark red won't accomplish what you want. On dark colors, silver and white always looks good, or something that matches the interior color. If you go with something wild, like school bus yellow, it'll probably ruin the overall look.
Good luck with the body work, hope it comes out how you like it
Well if you're good at body work. Black doesn't hide too many sins, and IMO if it's not done right...it's simply polishing a turd.

I suppose that's where I differ from most, do I want my truck to look like the others, or stand out. Don't get me wrong, if I like something I'm gonna do it, regardless of who else is doing it...but typically I go against the grain naturally.
