Im thinking about replacing the entire shell/cab on a 79 bronco since there is too much rust to cut and weld out of it. The frame is still pretty solid, its just the body that is terrible. The rust free shell I found for it cost $2250 which I don't know if thats a little high or not...? Anyways just curious if it would be worth it to buy that shell or keep looking for something else cheaper.
Also, if anyone else has done this to their bronco, any info or problems they ran into would be helpful.
Doesn't seem too bad, if you figure that it's probably going to cost you a lot more to have all the body work done, to the shell you have, if you were to bring it to a body shop.
Holy Crap...you could buy a whole rust free drivable Bronco in my area for $2250, good shells usually run between $500-1000 around here. You might want to think about having something shipped from the SE or SW...and still be cheaper than 2k.
I didn't do the math, so I may be wrong, but I'd imagine you could darn near buy all new body panels and be in the same ball park:
I dont know where you are located but if you have a rust problem you must be up north. I have a 79 bronco body I would sell for 500. The interior is roached but the body and fiberglass shell is in good shape. I am in south west KS. Getting it to you might be a problem..If you are interested pm me or give me a call 620 770 1398
Yea im in MI so anything rust free around here costs an arm an a leg. The front clip is completely fine its just the body that has lots of rust. I know about bronco graveyard, with the amount of rust on the body it just seems like it would be easier and cheaper to buy a whole new shell.
Kansas would be a bit of a drive for me
I guess ill just keep lookin around on craigslist until I find somethin cheaper..?
Planning on it, theres one coming up april 16th so hopefully i find some kinda deal. I haven't been to one before so Ill probably come home with a trailer load of parts and an empty bank account
