I have the same exact problem as posted here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-problems.html
I have a 99 f250 superduty 5.4 automatic
it won't shift into second until about 4000-4500rpm and it goes straight to OD and skips 3rd.
Can anybody shed some light on this? I've recently replaced the speed sensor on the rear, that didn't change anything. No codes are being thrown as of now but i am not really driving it because i'm not sure whats wrong with it.
Trans Fluid level is fine but i am thinking about doing a complete flush, anything I can check while i have the pan dropped?
It could be a few things that could cause this, the first place to start is check the signals coming from the computer with a scanner. If it looks correct from there it most likely will be a problem inside the trans.
Second gear problems with that trans could be a sticky 1-2 accumulator valve in the valve body or a problem with the intermediate one way clutch inside the trans.
trans fluid seems to be fine. I do hear a metal on metal clunking noise when going over some bumps...could it possibly be u-joints?
It doesn't seem to shift until i left off the gas from 1st to 2nd
