Does anyone have experience with chrome spray paint? I just painted my truck. Its Arctic white and looks very nice, except it is VERY VERY white. I'm thinking a chrome bumper/headlight outline would look very nice with some chrome on it. How good does chrome spray paint look? obviously its not the same, but is it at least close? if someone walks by will they be able to tell?
Also, more or less, how much does it cost to chrome a bumper? I have no experience with this sort of think. I know its more than 7 bucks for a rattle can.
Tried a couple small pieces with different brands and none were satisfactory. Chrome powdercoat would be cheaper than rechroming, but haven't really seen in person.
that stuff works OK on some things. if your all white you may get away with it , but ive had some embarrassing results with darker paint jobs. kinda a "get what u pay for here" but if it makes it look better than it did, well damn, right?
I tried the spray can system from Alsa. Looked good in the video demo. Unfortunately, the result wasn't chrome. It was brushed aluminium at best. Spectra chrome looks amazing on the computer but only a few shops are set up for it.
Try some Krylon "Dull Aluminum" .... several coats ..... then clear coat it with "Clear Gloss" and see how you like that. Thy it on a small part you want silver or scrap first.
I used to use that on my Corvette Rallye wheels on my '67 Chevelle and I've seen it used on some F-glass bumpers on a fiend's drag car and I did it on my home made rear western style step bumper on my '77. I thought it looked great and it's so easy to repair.
The best shiney "chrome paint" that i've used is the tiny can of brush on Rustoleum paint. I used it to repaint all my galvanized metal vents on the roof of my house. It's holding up well in the weather. It is a shiny silver color, but definately not a shiny mirror chrome finish.
