Went to start it yesterday, key turned freely and then power wont go off. So I went out and bought a cylinder and switch. Put the cylinder in, same. Got the steering column down and was gonna swap out the switch but noticed the rod that actuates the switch was loose on the cylinder side.
How do I get re-attach it/see if its broke? Doesn't seem like there's anyway to get up there.

Yes, when you have the wheel off the turn signal switch is looking at you, probably one of the little plastic bits is broken.
