To much porting?
Just got my 460 stuffed in my 78 F-150 4x4 but there seems to be to much fuel in my oil and it sputters in 3rd gear or going up a hill. One of my friends pointed out from pictures on myspace that the intake ports looked really big in fact to big. My D3VE-A2A heads were bought off ebay with the intake that were gasket matched bowl cut. My friend pointed out that if these heads were stock they could breath just fine on the intake side but could use porting on the exhaust side. Could all this porting be my gas problem or should I rip off my 1411 Edelbrock 750 and rebuild it?

Take a picture of your intake ports. Measure them if possible. If the port were enlarged (only the person who ported them knows why) your air velocities are lower, leaning further towards fuel dropping out of suspension. Diagnose the carburetor condition first, if the problem is still around after you tuned your carb, then we can step into fuel suspension and airflow problems that could be present. I hope its just a out of tune carb if you payed a pretty penny for the heads.

Well bad news I have a new problem. I rebuilt my 1411 edelbrock and took out the open Mr. Gasket spacer cat. no. 1932. I put in a edelbrock 4 hole spacer thinking maybe the open spacer was giveing it to much gas. Now she sputters and stalls like its not getting enough gas. The idel is a bit lower but havent hooked up my RPM tac yet to see how much slower. I dont have the gas smell when I start it but it sure does lag in power. When I get off work im going to grind on the manifold a little to make the carb sit in without the spacer. My oval intake runners are 2.215 inches tall and 2.01 wide same measurements as my Fel-Pro Gaskets. Im thinking I should have saved my $900 plus $235 in shipping fees and went with some edelbrock heads and intake. I will see how the non spacer idea works out!

Old fuel pumps will often start to leak fuel into the oil, if yours is new that won't be the problem unless the fuel pump cam is the wrong one and caused the diaphram to rupture. I think the problem is in the carb, possibly the float setting are too high. If it was a Holley carb I would first check and/or replace the power valve(s)

check the float level and the fuel pressure. edelbrocks are a really good solid carb. one of the holley's that I fought with had problems with the floats sticking and would dump enough gas down the throat that it would blow flames out the exhaust at idle.
and factory 460 intake ports would be better with the floor of the port raised some. way to much dirty stagnant air.

I bet the Forestry Service just loved you!! Or would have if they had caught you in the woods with that truck.
