Expedition 2010, you either work at or own a dealership.. Or are one these brand loyal die hards who wants to be buried in his ford. Some of us just expect that 10 yrs into the new millenium a car company could figure out how to make a transmission that shifts properly and windows that don't leak.. I guess some of us have high expectations.

why what an ugly accusation actually I am not a fan of any "brand" and agree you should be able to expect decent quality from any vehicle. I had to dump another vehicle recently prior to getting my expy due to constant electrical malfunctions that were never resolved on a long term basis as far as I know. The problems started when the vehicle was new. This is my 1st Ford since 1990. The one I had in 1990 was a lemon too. Then GM for 12 yrs 1 lemon GM, now Ford again. It has had some issues too but not like yours or some others I had. Like I said in an earlier post get rid of it. Should not have to but in my mind the agrivation is not worth it > good luck, let us know how it works out

Has anyone had a mechatroinc unit replaced in their 6 speed trans and has this repair actually fixed the shifting problems ? Ford is going to tear into the trans next week and I am not sure if I should let them because I am not sure that this will be the fix to my ongoing problem. I have spoken to an attorney who wants everything verified by an independent certified mechanic. The problem is he wants it done at my cost $ 300.00 and the other problem is sometimes the truck needs to be driven for awhile before it acts up which makes it difficult to verify with a 5 minute ride.

Backdr I too am having some Tranny issues with my '11. I also have the vibration under foot along with these other symptoms. Your experiences have scared me from takin it in yet. I currently have 1800 miles on it.
I was wondering if anyone had any insight on them before I take it to the dealer. I don't think any of the TSB's cover the 11's.
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
1. I get a 200 rpm surge whenever I let off the gas, step on the gas after coasting, step on the brake, or let off the brake.
<o></o>
2. Sometimes, when climbing a hill with light throttle, the truck will begin to hesitate/stutter/ then it will dowshift hard. Usually after it downshifts, it will feel like it has less power than before the shift.
<o></o>
3. I get a droning sound and a vibration that I feel in the pedals only between 1800 and 2000 rpm only in 3rd and 4th gear.
<o></o>
4. I have noticed a "hot metal" kind of smell from the front of the truck. The brakes are not hot though.
<o></o>
5. recently I think I have felt it slipping when it shifts.
<o></o>
I'm not sure if these are all related or seperate issues. None of the se problems exist when its cold. They usually spring up after driving for 20 minutes or so, or after sitting in a parking lot in the hot sun all day when the temp is over 80 degrees.

I am very happy with the mileage I'm getting 16-17 around town and 19 hwy. So I'm scared of a re-flash that could ruin that.

I also notice another thing yesterday (probably unrelated to the tranny) About an hour after parking it in the garage, I went the the garage to take out the trash and heard a very high pitched noise ( like dog whistle high pitched) coming from the engine compartment somewhere. I think it was vapor escaping because it would occasionaly fade out and then spring up again. A few hours later I cheked again and it had stopped.
<o></o>
Any Ideas? Thanks!

Sorry to say that my problems started in a similar way. I have held off on the trans repair because I can not get corporate Ford to return a phone call to let me know that a loaner has been approved for the the time the truck will be in the shop. I hope that your problem is not the same as mine because dealing with Ford is an absolute nightmare and I do not believe that they really know how to fix their own screw ups with the defective trans components. As far as the whistling, I had a 2003 and a 2005 expedition that both did the same thing. Each vehicle had the air conditioning system rupture after 25,000 miles of use. I had refrigerant all over and it occurred due to faulty valves in the rear system. I figured by 2010 this would have been taken care of, but after reading my posts you can tell that I was mistaken. Hope all goes well for you, but I guessing that you will have to go to the dealer - good luck to you.
