Truck Apps Question - Setting up multiple trailers??

I just created two trailers:

1. ATV Trailer that has electric brakes

2. 5th Wheel that has electric/hydraulic brakes.

My question is how do you tell the truck that the ATV Trailer has electric brakes and the 5th wheel has E/H brakes? Do you have to manually tell the truck each time?

Just curious.

This is such a cool feature of the truck and being able to track the mileage you pull each trailer is very cool to keep track of wheel bearing service, etc.

it's been awhile since I set my trailers up, but I'm 99% sure you can indicate which brake type each trailer has, and that setting is stored. There is a menu option under truck apps... I can check my truck later if nobody else has a better answer.

You will have to tell the truck what brakes you have when you hook up.

When I ordered my truck, I didn't see the Springfield XD .40 S&W option.

Yeah, the XD Option is an "aftermarket" add on for sure!

djjoshuad is correct. When you created each individual trailer, you can choose the trailer brake type. Once this info is stored, it's just a matter of selecting the correct trailer name and all the presets(type of brakes, name, gain etc) will automatically apply. The last trailer connected will be the first to show unless you physically change the trailer selection in the truck apps menu.
Hope this helps.

I have created two trailers and after you scroll through and name the trailer and press OK then it goes to back to enter another trailer. I haven't figured out how to add the trailer with the trailer brake type, gain, etc. Do you have to be connected to the trailer? Will this give you some more options to add as the truck detects the trailer?

I am missing something here and will go back and

My truck - set 2 trailers:

Motorcycle - TT (it has electric brakes)
Cyclone - 5th wheel (it has electric over hydraulic)

When I change trailers on the LCD I also have to change braking systems, it does not follow the trailer input.

The system is smart enough to turn off the back aid when a trailer with brakes is connected.

It is not smart enough to turn off the back aid with a non brake trailer. Dumb.

It is also not smart enough to connect the trailer choice to braking system choice.

I was incorrect in my previous email. Sorry. You do have to manyally select either electric or elec/hyd for each trailer. Although it would be a great feature for the truck to store that trailer information into memory, I think we are a few updates away from that point.

Here's the deal!

I went down and connected my trailer to the truck and it worked better. What you have to do is go to Driver Assist and that is where you can turn off your backup sensor, change the brakes (E or E/H) and Trailer Sway.

Now that i have stored 2 trailers the settings are stored correctly for each trailer!

COOL

Trailer: Press the right arrow key (when in the Off Road menu) to reach the Trailer menu (vehicle must be equipped with factory installed trailer brake controller). The following information is displayed:

• Active trailer name or default trailer.
• Accumulated trailer distance.
• Trailer gain and output.
• Trailer disconnected

When “Press OK for options” is displayed, pressing OK will open the trailer options menus:
Adding a new trailer– Use the up/down arrows to highlight “New Trailer” from the Change Active Trailer menu and press the right arrow key to enter the New Trailer input screen. Use the up/down arrow keys to choose alpha, numeric and symbol characters and then press the right arrow to move the character space over. Continue adding characters as needed. Press the left arrow to go back and change a previously selected character. When finished with the new trailer name, press OK to accept the new trailer name.

But what it doesn't do is store the type of brakes.

And if a trailer is plugged in the back up aid should turn off automatically, without selecting a trailer.
