tried the 10k and 14.7k today, idle was a little choppy. the 15.6k worked best for me. get a little puff of black smoke out the exhaust when i jump on it.

I think it was Sam who did the resistor on the dyno.

It all depends on your truck. Every truck is different.

O.k., went back and found the thread with the mod and dyno results. I'm not only impressed,-that I found the thread but of the results, too- I'm going to pick this stuff as soon as I can. However, I have a few questions, The writer did not mention, at least I could not find what IDM voltage he was using. I'm running 140 on one truck and currently the 120 spare on the other. I pulled the 100 of the '95 with plans to do the 140 mod to it. Should i expect any significant changes with that mod? I have factory PCM's in each truck.

Is there any reason you can not use a "pot" and have variable resistance?

O.K., can someone suggest what I did wrong?
'95 350 5 sd, 6637, 3"DP, FPR shim at 65psi at around 2200 RPM. Put on Superchips tuner first and drove about 50+- miles. Reset stock drove 10-12 miles 55-60. Installed variable resistor "pot" type widget, working from 0-20K. At around 15.5K the truck seems to pull better off line than stock or with the SC. At around 2200-2400 she starts buck jumping and wanting to be turned down. Turn up toward 20k no good at all bucks at lower RPM. Drive her awhile and she seems to like the 15 setting, good throttle response etc. Then with a county mountie following for going through radar 65-55, I start slowing her down to 55 she starts buck jumping again. I do get stopped for no tag light, but he feels bad because the truck appears to be running bad. As embarrassing as this was, the cruiser was a Chevy! I'm so glad it wasn't an unmarked Izuzu/Chevy truck. I have seen them using 150's and Lightnings. What's wrong? Blue wire-red tracer.

measure your fuel pressure at idle bro. =)

Tell us what that is.

the ICP mod can cause strange things.
And Pots, can do strange things too.

Your tricking the truck into applying more oil pressure to the heads.

Also, you might have a bad flash on your PCM now from using the programmer as well.
Unless it was a plugin style chip only, and you unplugged. it.

The ICP mod shoudln't cause bucking unless your going excessive. You might be short on fuel.

And not all trucks like the ICP mod either.

Well, before I started all this, fuel pressure at idle was just below 60 I think and moved up to 62-65. I did remove programmer and reprogrammed stock tune, just ran it a while to see how truck responded to that vs the mod. I have been waiting for a fitting to come in to attach the 3500 psi gauge to check HPOP at head when driving it under load. It came today but parts store 20 miles opposite direction of today's chore list.

Talyn, thank you for posting the link on the ICP mod. I did it today and can't believe how different the truck feels. It's unreal how cheap and easy this was and I can't wait to see what a chip feels like! Thanks again for all the help

I did the 14.7k and checked wiith a ohlms meter and it read only 3 ohlms. So I did the 10k and it read 9. I hooked it up and I have seen no improvments. It seems like it doesn't even work. Does anyone know why this could be?

Every truck is different, you may not see that much difference. You can connect it with the truck running and if you hear the idle change, it's working

?how did you only measure 3ohms?do you have the correct resistor?

I really did not see anything with the 10k resistor either, then tried 14.7k,somewhat better, then 15.6k that's where it ran best

I don't know, I thought I had a more recent post on here. The truck has been running better with potentiometer 0-20K. Seems to like setting around what we figure is 13-15.5k. though after running through the gears one day I got a CEL. Dialed it down would not clear. Turn truck off, waited then restart. Have not seen it since. I don't know if it's the mod, the truck, my meds or what. She runs like she's scalded.
