i replaced the stc fitting on my brothers truck while it is all tore apart. my question is when i took it all apart what i replaced looked exactly the same as what came out. i replaced all the bolts and the black metal fitting and that was it along with the gaskets. the only thing left was a plastic piece that looked like it went under the hpop but didnt think it should have stayed in there. whats the difference between the new one and the old ones? (stc fittings that is)
The kit should have looked like this one that includes the one piece fitting.
(Updated STC fitting kit -4C3Z9B246-F or number 4C3Z-9B246-E or International part number 1879930C91
yea thats what the kit looked like. but what i replaced looked like the same thing. and the motor has never been torn into. and also the plastic piece in the top left of the pic do i need to use it? i didnt think it belonged in there and never used it but do i need to have it in?
I have never been able to confirm that Ford actually EVER installed the one-piece fitting from the factory - on F series engines (ie they may have in 08 + for the E-series).
o ok good. i didnt use any aligning i just made sure the t block was where it was suppose to be and tightened everything down. make sure it was all flush and everything
what is a bracket update? sorry im familair with the motors and such but i try to avoid the hpop. idk why it just seems like if something isnt just right with that thing that its not gonna work right
International came out w/ the one-piece replacement fitting. Ford came out w/ their own solution - a brace/bracket (that looks much like the alignment bracket in the updated one-piece kit). Ford used the bracket for a year or two and then went w/ the International fix.
