What Starter?
I just rebuilt the 460 for my 77' F150 and I was wondering what starters you guys recommended? It is a two wheel drive with a C6. I have Hedman elite headers and true dual exhaust running out the back.

stock starter will work just fine.
If it wasn't for the headers I would say you coudl also use one from a 92 or later F350 with a 7.5 as they are gear reduction but I wouldn't guarantee it would clear the header tubes.
I know NAPA even lists it for your exact application tho so easy enough to just go buy one.
I actually started my 13.4:1 compression 528cid stroker with a factory 400 starter when I broke the high dollar aftermarket one I had on the truck and had a race to go run.

I'll back up monsterbaby on this one...I probably started my 10:1 compression breathed-on 460 a thousand times on the ORIGINAL '74 F-250 starter...and that would have been on a 25-to-30 year-old starter!
