Looking at cams I need to know what type lifters are in the 1984 f150/302 auto? the Russian bra-ster ( "C" you know who you are!!!)already told me it is hydraulic, but what lifters are used? what type rockers? can you use more modern types in this year engine? like roller? as I see some people offer retro type roller lifters and rockers too? also what size rockers? 1.6 or 1.7? yeah, I know all this won't give me much more power now until I increase compression right? via pistons and heads right? PS, is the search engine only for paying members? as I can never get it to find any threads, which is why I bug you guys here... sorry, vic

Just planing for the future fix ups, as far as the search goes. if I just put in "cam" or lifters, nothing comes up? as far as the cam and lifters and rockers goes, can I put in a roller cam in my 1984 302/auto? what comes in the stock engine? what about the lifters? can I put in rollers? is this a roller motor already? also what is the difference between the 1.6 and the 1.7 rockers? and can you put roller rockers in any engine? I have a ford spec's book, all the ford manuals, and a hayes manual (not to good for much) and I can't seem to find this info in any of them? hey 'C', I ust thought that you were Russian from that drinking binge? I didn't think Russians and Lithuanians mixed well? or is that how you picked the bra out of the bag? hee hee hee. vic

is a Search this Forum link. I just entered "cam" (without the quotes) and a whole
bunch of stuff came back.

I jsut entered EXACTLY what you gace above (with quotes):
"cam" or lifters

And, still, a bunch came back.

What are you doing?

All I can say is that I have a 400 engine which has a flat tappet cam, modifying stuff
to use a roller cam & lifters would cost me about $2k.

There are others here who are far more qualified to answer about your engine in detail
than I am.

BTW what year is your engine? 1984? I honestly don't remember when the transition
occurred but have read about it here.

Ya know what? I stopped drinking over 20 years ago, got me into too much trouble .
As for my Russian friends, well, that's a bit of a long story, send me e-mail (click my

I finally got it to work "C" I just didn't see the box checked to look for exact word? still nothing until I unchecked the box? oh well it works now, cool I guess ford didn't put roller cams in trucks, at least the 302 until 92, so I guess I have a flat tappet set up? about your picture, Ive seen your story and pic's too, about that a lot here... funny! I didn't see your e mail in your member area, I did see the messenger contact though. I especially like the quote "gas mileage" "rather not say" I can relate! my 302, here in Buffalo NY is only getting 9 mpg on warmer days... after a tune up and new plugs, new dyanspark control, carb adjustment, so on & so on.. can't wait till spring, about July sometime! Hey, your the only Lithuanian I know aside from my dad, glad to meet ya! Yeah, I cant drink, got the sugar problem, I like it but it's killing me...
