Hi guys well my truck is a 81 f150 with a straight six. I just but a new carb on the engine and ran new exhaust. I live in pa where there is no emission testing. So I eliminated all the vacuum lines and caped them all off except for the vacuum advance. Now that the new carb is on and have NO vacuum leaks I am having problems with the Idle. I cant get the Idle low enough. I can get the idle screw to unscrew so that it is not even touching the carb housing and it still only idles at 1000 rpms. I thought it was my timing so I adjusted my timing and hit the mark. Still idles at 1000 rpms. There was a time where I got it down to 650rpms but if I run it down the road and stop at a stop sign or light it is idling right back up there again at 1000rpms. The only thing I noticed if I goose the throttle it will bring the idle down to about 750 to 800 rpm. Keep in mind this is with the idle screw totally not touching the carb housing and the choke is opening. Has anyone had this problem before it is driving me crazy please help.

The EGR valve? You should have the PCV valve hooked up too and the brake booster.
I have the brake booster hooked up I dont have a pcv anymore and I elimenated the egr vacuum hose and caped off the port to the egr and the port on egr. Rogue when I unhook the advance the idle does not drop. I thought of that to but it is hooked to the S port of the carb and it only has vacuum when the throttle is applied. I also sprayed strating fluid all over the carb and the intake and every vacuum port and no leaks I am so lost at this point.
I dont know yet Rogue. I mean the choke is fully releasing it is straight up and down . Havent checked to see if the high idle screw is missing the cam. and my next step was to detatch the cable and see if that is holding the throttle open a little. I will let you know later on today after work. thank you
