Broken red lock/unlock turn knob on 4x4 hub.

Broken red lock/unlock turn **** on 4x4 hub.
Somehow from the past snow storm, the red plastic lock/unlock turn **** broke off on my manual hub. The truck is a 1987 F150 4x4. Warn does not make a replacement hub for this year, it is the flange type no bolts. Does anyone have any experience or advice if the hub can be taken part to try to fix this or any idea's. Ford wants a pretty penny for a new one. Thank you in advance.

My automatic Ford hubs bit the dust on my 1989 F 150. I replaced mine with Warn manual hubs, and they kept asking me if I needed the adapter kit. Mine did not, but maybe one is available for yours.
I also went to Ford. I'd have had to mortgage the house if I'd bought them at the dealer. Then again, everything at the dealership is a ridiculous rip off.
