I think I heard that I can rotate the transfer case on the 83 Ford c6 transmission I am using in my latest project. Is that true? It looks by the bolt spacing where the case hooks to the spacer between it and the trans that it would work. Other than shift linkage, it looks like it would work. Can anyone help me? Thanks.
Its going in a 1967 Bronco chassis. The frame is too narrow in its current configuration. By rotating it not only will it clear the frame the output of the transfer case will line up better with the front axle.
Be careful, I know the borg/warner transfer cases have oil pumps inside. So if you get it out of wack, the oil drain and fill plugs are not going to work, and the oil pickup may starve for oil.
I'm not sure if mine is a Borg/Warner or not. Is there an easy way to tell? Regardless, I will definitely check to see if that will be an issue. I think I only need to rotate one bolt hole to get the clearance I need so hopefully that will still be able to work. Is that the only issue you know of? Is it one of those things I will just have to try and see if it physically works? Either way, thanks for your help. This definitely will give me things to look for.
