So i have a 97 expedition EB 5.4L 4x4 107,765 miles and doesnt leak a drop of oil. the other day it developed a wired vibration when i come to a stop at a light or stop sign. it is most noticeable from the drivers seat.it only does it while in drive and stopped completely, but if you turn the steering wheel slightly one way or the other it goes away and one you take your foot off the brake to go it stops immediately i checked fluid levels oil and tranny and everything looked great. Could this be a exhaust leeak?
You say this happens while in drive and stopped completely. Does it do it in reverse gear the same? What I would do is remove the serpentine belt and see if it does it. If it is gone, then I would look at an accessory, idler or pulley going bad. Just don't run it so long that your expy overheats. That would take a little while if it is cold. Try it. It is one way to rule things out.
I would take a look at your exhaust hangers. When mine was less than a year old it developed a similar problem and the dealer had it for about 3 days trying to track it down. They finally changed out the hangers and it has not done it since.
