c6 transmission problems

c6 transmission problems
i have a 78 ford f150 with 400 and a c6 tranny with 205 transfer, the problem i have is when i put it in revers it has a delay and bangs into revers really hard.and when it worms up it sometimes wont go into reverse at all,and i was wondering how to fix it

I have a similar problem with a C6 I just swapped into my truck ( was opened up, checked over & given the OK first
) - slight delay then engaging hard into reverse.......but forward gears, driving & shifting all good.
