First of all, let me start by saying what a great site this is. Have read a ton of helpful threads since I found it. But now for my problem. I have a '93 F-150 XLT with power door locks. I've had the truck for about 2 years now, and about 6 months ago my doors started to lock automatically when the key is turned to the "run" position. They unlock when the key is turned to off, and I've seen a lot of other vehicles with this feature, but why did it not do this when I first bought the truck? Loose relay? I've had no other electrical problems at all. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
The 93 F Series did not do this from the factory. Aftermarket keyless entry modules can add this feature. It can usually be turned off by dip switches on the module. As to why it just started I don't know. I suspect that you have an aftermarket keyless entry/alarm unit installed.
I don't think I have a keyless entry / alarm system unless they got REAL creative with the install. By that I mean I don't see anything under the hood that looks like that. Of course I've never had one on a vehicle, so I could be missing it completely. I'll have to give it another once over. Thanks for the idea.
I don't believe that it would be under the hood. I installed mine behind the right kick panel. 90 percent of the wires I needed to hook into for the door locks and power were there. It seemed like the logical place to me.
