Noise under load

Im new here and Ive got a 1993 F150 with a 302, Auto, 4wd, ex cab, and about 125,000 miles. It run amazing except the motor makes a clickin/tickin noise when its under a good load like goin up a hill, or when its in gear and idling low (like 500 rpm). I was thinking it was a lifter but i wasnt shure. Any comments would help. Thanks

If your timing is off, it will make a rattling noise under load. When idling, where does it sound like it's coming from when you pop the hood? Front, back, left right etc. Welcome to FTE.

I'm "+1" on this one. Ticking noise on the passenger side of the motor under load. If I pop it into neutral, it goes away so I'm thinking something in the trans (E4OD). Engine just purrs at idle and revved with no load.

Does it tick when idling in neutral or park, or just when in gear?

Could be a cracked flexplate but I've never had that happen to me so I'd wait for someone with more experience to confirm or rule this out. Not sure why you would just here it on the left side though. "Noise under the hood" problems are really hard to diagnose without actually hearing it but I'm sure you both will get some good advice or suggestions soon.

This also could be an exhaust leak.

That's what I'd bet on.
