I added a length of fuel hose to that tube with a hose clamp so I can drain the fuel into a container (instead of all over my driveway...). The other end of my hose has a removable plug with a clip that secures it to the bottom of the radiator area. Seems to be a handy location for me.
Have you replaced your fuel filter yet? I think the recommended intervals are every 15k miles or so. I order my filters from RiffRaff but you can get them from Diesel0rings.com as well. If you are placing an order for the 0-rings....might as well get some filters as well. The price is way cheaper than the dealer btw.

Last word of caution....
Sometimes aftermarket fuel filters are purchased with the lid integrated as part of the filter. You will need the separate lid if you plan on using the OEM style filter that i listed above. If you don't have the OEM lid, then you can get one from the same site as well. Here is a link.
