2.9 compression

i was just wondering what normal compression would be for a 2.9 with 120k and at what point would you think about a rebuild?
thanks

120K isn't that much when it comes to considering a rebuild unless it has some serious issues in the lower end. The 2.9 I had in my 90 Ranger had over 239k and was still going strong. Had severe body rust issues though. It also had the typical lifter tick, but wasn't real bad and it never got worse. Your compression readings should be around 120 psi or so. Even if the readings are lower it can be ok as long as they are pretty close for all 6. But, if you have one cylinder that's a lot lower than the others there are tests you can do to determine if it's a valve issue or piston ring issue. Is it giving you problems?
