one is on the right side frame rail around the alt. the other is under the cab by the back cab mount<o></o>
These are both on the passanger frame rail, and seem to be were everyone says they are. Got this off this site awhile ago.

Just like he said, passenger frame rail in those two locations. I've heard of a few not having the stamping around the alt. My doesn't for one. Takes a little work to get at the one under the cab. That's where I had to find mine though, took about an hr of work. I can tell you how to get to it with the cab on if you don't seem to have the other one.

The passenger frame rail is correct. FYI...on 4WD trucks the VIN tends to be stamped closer to the firewall next to the exhaust. On 2WD the VIN tend to be stamped below the alternator.
It's good practice to locate the VIN on the frame. If your title Vin doesn't match the frame VIN it can cause problems.

Code VR= (V) medium chestnut metallic (R) Light jade.
Maybe its just I have different tastes.
As for the other codes, these are off the metal warranty tag riveted to the drivers door? Those don't look familiar to me. Could you post a picture of the tag?
Here is what's normally on the drivers door.

This jazz makes no sense. See * below.

You cannot go by repro parts sellers info, because most have no Ford truck parts catalogs...where this info is listed. Some of the info listed by repro parts sellers is guesswork.
If you want your VIN & Warranty Plate info decoded, post the whole tamale here....see *
There in no A/C code listed on Warranty Plates...or on the white Safety Standards Certification Label which is glued to the B pillar.
* Warranty Plate codes for 1976/79: VIN, W.B., COLOR, MODEL, BODY, TRANS, AXLE, YEAR, DSO.
Edit: The Warranty Plate in post #9 is similar, but does not have the year code or other jazz because it's from a 1974.
The 1973/79 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog is available on a CD from hipoparts.com.

1963/80: The Warranty Plate is located on the left door face below rhe latch on US/Canadian assembled trucks.
The plate found on the cab is prolly a "Buck Tag" used by assembly line workers to assure the correct parts are installed on the assembly line according the vehicles specific build sheet.
There is no decoding info available for Buck Tags that I am aware of. Some of the info can be decoded because what is stamped on Buck Tags will be similar to what is stamped on Warranty Plates.
Some is gibberish, cannot be decoded.
