difference in pistons

does anyone know what the physical difference is in a 03 to a 04-07 piston. I just got the new piston for my engine and the dome inside the bowl looks a little different but nothing major just want to make the piston i got was the correct one

I think the piston was the same size. But they did change the thickness of the heads for 05 I belive.

yes 03-04 is different than 05-07 for emissions.

I know for sure they are different does anyone know what the physical difference is though?

The original bowl design in the center of the piston was changed to a more pronounced radius on top of the bowl. This change also required different length glow plugs. The newer glow plugs are 1.2 mm shorter then original, that means putting early glow plugs into a engine with the updated design would result in piston/glow plug contact.
