As this is my first diesel (2005 Excursion 6.0), I really don't know if I have a problem or not..... but compared to every other late model car or truck I've owned, the diesel has a very weak mid range response, and runs like crap until the coolent temps hit 125 deg or so (scanguage). It behaves like a high strung 2 stroke, as you push down the gas: nothing....nothing...nothing...LOTS of power.
It just seems like there's a big soft spot in the gas peddle travel where there's almost no affect. I really have to push down a lot to get the thing moving. I don't think I have a major engine problem, cause when it goes, it goes like gangbusters !! maybe some sensor issue? or maybe theyr'e just like that?
Do these diesels need a real heavy throttle application to really start pulling hard ?
i run matt at gearhead. some people dont like how it shifts but i love it. its a harder shift than most are use to but i like it that way because i know its in that gear and that the tranny isnt slipping.
