Hmm I must meet you 2. And easy on the duracrap.....mine is still going strong! LMAO My f250 is the one n the doghouse right now. I need a tranny jack! LOL Does he have the tools to properly time an idi?
And yes the 4bt is capable of 700hp highly modified and around 350-450 with turbo, studs, injectors, bigger ip,and 4k rpm springs
Sure they are. But you'll never get rid of all the vibration/shaking.
Getting big numbers out of a 4BT is *almost* as easy as a 6BT, and just as costly.
Whatadidawha??!!? Um lets torque this down hotrod...LOL Dealin with a "slingblade" here! LOL Ok what is this about vibration? I am assuming these motors have vibration issues. Is there not a fix for that? I had planned on beefing it up a "little" I figured studs, ip and 370's but explain the springs to me.
Like all 4 cyl engines, the 4BT is a bit "shakey". Annoying, but not a problem.
The 4/6BT governor can be turned up to as high as 4K, somewhat safely. The higher the power level, the less the safety margin. Cummins left a LOT of room in the RPM dept.....

diesel power did an excellent write up on changing the governor springs and had great pics of the process... thought id through that out there for ya
unfortunatly i dont remember how long ago it was, id say about 2 years ago or so
Yeah, there should be plenty of sources for finding out about the governor mods on the cummins.
My buddy is currently battling with whether to turn up the RPM, or reprogram the trans. The factory trans doesn't want to upshift till over 3500 RPM under heavier throttle, and he just doesn't want to spin the 6BT that high on a regular basis. This is in the 6.0 PSD to 12V 6BT conversion truck. No clue which trans it is, just whatever auto was found behind the 6.0.
I dunno. It could be anything. I quit paying much attention to what was put into "trucks" when the IDI and C6 became "Obsolete"......
"Trucks", Ha! Where the heck is an eye-rolling smiley face!?
These new "pickup trucks" are just plastic luxury mobiles for folks who "think" they know how to use a "truck".
Show me a Superduty in about 25 years. It it's even around by then, I'll bet it won't look HALF as good as my '85 does TODAY at 26 years old.
And then there's my '65 Slick which has had an abusive life with me, and at 46 years old, I'd say it's still tougher than any plastic rig they're producing today.
LOL. That's why "trucks" was put the way it was. Sorry, but the last good looking F-series truck was built in 97, using the leftover 96 bodystyle.
That's my opinion. I know opinions are like a-holes. Everyone has them, and most stink.......
Oh I knew you had the quotations for a reason, I happen to agree very much so
It might hurt some feelings, but I'm not a huge fan of the 92-97 trucks either...I think they look too nice LOL
I really like the 80-86 style myself...
Well I got it home last night. I am going to pull the injectors and try to turn it over. I am really thinking it is hydrolocked. We will see. Cool part is, everything is there COMPLETE and that hydraulic pump that is mounted to it is HUGE! WOW. I will post pics later tonight.
