motorcraft alternators crap
I replaced my alt April 2009. lasted until now. I checked it and its only pushing 11.5 - 12. so its fried. This thing was 229.00 bucks. I thought it would be better to replace with Ford but guess i was wrong. I also have 2 new batteries that i dont want ruined so i have not been driving the truck since i discovered this. So i just bought a Autozone Duralast Gold. At least it has a limited lifetime replacement if it goes bad and it is a new unit not a remanufactured like the ford one. Dealer told me that is all ford sells is remanufactured ones. I dont know if it will make a difference but at least it will be prorated if this one goes bad. I just had to vent .. Jeff

also, I havent yet returned my old one but it is only for a 5 dollar core charge. Is it worth my while to try to rebuild it? are there "kits" that be bought to rebuild them? then I could take it to autozone and have them bench test it for me and see if it works ok. thanks Jeff
