Trun Signal Help!?!
what in the world would make my turn signal stop flashing and stay on solid. is the stalk what controls the turn signals? anyone have any problems with their left wiper/signal stalk? it happened a month ago but fixed itself or i should say went back to normal to come back and haunt me tonight. checked fuses and they are good. is there a relay somewhere? but that wouldnt explain intermittent operation. short or broken wire in the steering column maybe?

I was about to check a wiring diagram. I have had a flasher unit go out before on another vehicle. Under the dash near the steering column area, they are metal cylindrical relay looking device which plugs in like a relay would. Odd though that you mention your 4-ways work. Unless they operate off of a separate flasher. I'll check the wiring schematic right now.

Happened to me about 8 years ago. The left would just light up and not flash, right turn worked fine, hazards worked fine. I replaced the multi-function switch and it solved the problem.
They are really easy to change. By any chance do you have another Super Duty available to try swapping switches to confirm?

My wiring diagram only goes to 2001, but shows only 1 flasher unit. I verified that on my truck by alternately switching on the turn signals and hazard flashers. The flasher unit seemed to be somewhere to the right of the fuse dash panel cover, but from the sounds of it, one was controlling both functions. Sorry I was not able to help on this one.

Is the problem only with one direction and not both? If the right signal flashes normally and the left just lights up, then I'd suspect the multi function switch (which is really just the entire turn signal level assembly).
