LOL, the 87-91 style always made me think that the clay mock-up was pushed against a brick wall. I commented on that back in 86, when I saw the first one.......
At least they got the 80-86, and 92-96/97 right. If I had a 87-91, it would have to have a nose job (92-96 clip) right off the bat.

I agree with those suggesting "side" in the name (box-side, line-side, square-side, slot-side). Perhaps carved-side.

The 80-97 "era" could easily be "slot side"...but again, as it's been mentioned before, how do you separate 80-86, 87-91, & 92-97? They all share the same cabs and doors (for the most part) and 87-97 share beds and tail lights. The noses (hence...well, you get it) are where the quickest and most obvious differences lie.

I'd like to see this discussion on the stupid duty forum...they're about in the same boat. 99-09 (or is it 2010?) super-duty trucks use like beds, cabs and doors.

Wink BULLNOSE? sounds borring and plain..like tile edgeing

bull-nose sounds boring to me, like plain oatmeal.. knida like tile edging or something blunt, which the front of this model fit's no dought, but how about something with more POWER? like oh, maybe??? Hammerhead? just like the shark, the headlights are way out to the extreme? OK for those who want bull in the name? Bull shark? I think we should give this more thought? just because someone at a magazine stuck a boring name to it doesn't mean we have to accept it does it? Yeah my names are pretty bad, but like art, I know it when I see it...I say keep looking?...vic

I agree, but sadly, we seem to be in the minority.
However, just because the majority says yes, doesn't mean I have to use the term they choose, especially when I'm talking about my own property.....

i said this already. but i would like to have "side" in the nickname. i agrre with you guys. i really do not like that nick name Bullnose for my Ford... seems like it does not "fit" the nick names has to mean something has to describe something about the truck itself... like "Dentside" or "Bumpsides" i have been trying to come up with something but... no luck still.

i agree... its like art.. once you know you'll know.

Only thing is, as mentioned, the Bumpsides and Dentsides had their own distinct bodies. From 80-97, the cabs and beds where nearly the same, so the name should referance the front clip. Unless you wanted to call the '80-86 "Archside" or "Ovalside" and the '87-97 "Roundside" after the wheel wheels. That's getting kind of on the silly side.

And still no separation between 87-91 & 92-97...IMO the 80-97 IS tge "slot side" or w/e you want to call it, the "bullnose" is sort of a sub-nickname.

And calling these trucks hammerheads would make me think the headlights stuck out past the fenders...that would be silly as well
not to mention, trucks and marine life are hardly related. Trucks and livestock, way. Plus, you haven't seen a 2,000 lb. limousine bull if you think bulls are "plain as oatmeal"....that reminds me, I'm a Taurus....are you suggesting I'm lame, sir?! lol

OK most of 80-86 and more trucks up here i the land of salt (Buffalo,NY) are all rusted out at the sides and rockers... not mine yet, but it's coming? they all oxidize like crazy... I like brickfront better than bullfront? even though it sounds like the truck the crash test dummies drive?ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ, vic

This was feeling about the whole thing. Maybe there should be a "No Nickname" option on the poll. I don't know that I feel so comfortable with 50 or so people naming my truck for me.

It's not nick-naming your personal vehicle, it's referencing a generation of trucks. Calling them "7th Gen F-Series" like I usually do in conversation gets tedious, and often leads to blank stares and an explanation. They look kind of like a Bull's nose, and people get a visual idea of what style truck is being talked about right off the bat.

Your truck can be named Ol' Blue, Black Knight, Big Red, Mean Green, etc... and still be referred to as "a Bullnose Ford". Doesn't bother me; besides, mine has a new nickname everyday anyway.
