looking good blue.
the 35 and 24 mpg im going to guess were just fill up errors.
so your actual true MPG = 13.39 right now @ 21 tanks (with keeping both of those in there.)

the reason id assume the 24 was just an error as well as the obvious 35,would be because its double your average.

any rate,keep 'em coming! hopefully you fix at least the 35 one,so it corrects your average.
fyi;
changing the two (35/24) to (generously above your normal average) i think i used 16 each,brings your average to what id guess would be your more accurate average of;
12.09 MPG @ 11 tanks.

i thought i once got 20.07 mpg when i was SRW.
but look what happened to the next tank;
(6th and 7th ones down,from the top)
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/g...vehicleid=1301

as you can see,a back to back fill up showed it to be just an error,and the low 13 mpg following,corrects my important number; the true average.

try keeping your foot out of 'er!
iv got 2 MPG on ya.

Yeah, that 35 is whacky....and the 24 is whacky too. Probably missed a receipt in there. Dang...

Thanks for the calculations, 12 MPG @ WOT 80% of the time is AWESOME considering the 10 mpg driving easy in the '65 LOL Don't get me started on the WOT/Fun days with the '65...down in 4-5 mpg territory! But, it was fun!

I'll be adding my March receipts tonight and get up-to-date on them

Maybe the next few tanks I'll drive "normal" and see what I get for a number. Not slow, just normal.

Great MPG!

Big smile on my face with diesel costs on the West Coast… Just got truck running after trans re build and can’t be happier with the mileage it’s giving me, got it a few months ago and on the first day lost the trans.

Just did a 400 mile round trip, full tanks, empty ½ way up and 500lbs in the bed on way home, gave me 20.7 overall… This was at 65/70mph up and 65mph on cc on way home. ’91 F250 2WD

78k orig miles
E40D with 355’s

Very happy!

Before Turbo: 1984 F-250 N/A w/3.5" exhaust from Y-pipe back fuel up 1/2 flat - 22.6

After Turbo: 1984 F-250 Banks Turbo, Ram Air, turned up 1.5 flats - 19.3

I drove it VERY maturely on a highway from Harlowton, MT(Other half's house) to my Ranch in Roundup, MT(The Ranch) when it was N/A, this was 91 miles from A-B.

My Father drove it VERY Maturely after the turbo install from Missoula, MT to Garrision, MT. This was 62 Miles.

Aune, I think you'll need to try and run a few tanks and average them out to get somewhat of an average.

For single trips, I usually fill up before leaving. I always write the odometer reading on the back of my receipt. Then I go for my trip, and fill up/top off when I'm back in town.
Take the gallons used and divide by the miles driven. That will give you a rough number for that single trip.
That's tough though, and not always accurate....

But I would think the turbo would give you an INCREASE by 1 or 2 MPG's...

I'm still N/A, but when I put the K&N air filter on my '65 F350 gasser, the thing gained a bunch of HP and got 2-3 more MPG's. Mind you, I'm comparing the K&N witht he original oil-bath air cleaner...
But the idea is that you are introducing more air. When you introduce more air, you introduce more fuel to keep the air:fuel mixture the same.
That usually makes you think you'd use MORE fuel and get LESS MPG's. But with more air and fuel, you'll actually need LESS air and fuel to make the same amount of power...catch my drift? It's tough to explain and even tougher to "type" to you lol

I was able to add my March fuel receipts into the garage, and figured I'd update this thread. I edited the 35 and 24 mpg issues, turns out I had missed a receipt for both of those fill-ups. I found 'em, but I didn't know how to "add" a fill-up, so instead I edited the 35 and 24 to include the gallons of the missed receipts. The mileage is the same, as that didn't change.

Also, the 20 mpg fill-up is correct. That was a highway run to go pick up my sister from college. That was an interstate run sitting at 75-80 mph for about 20 miles, then another hour of 50 mph state roads. No OD either. And for 16 mpg tanks, they're also accurate, I triple-checked everything...so I guess it's right.

Probably right in the 16-20 mpg range from my guesses.

I bought some 4" aluminum dryer vent tubing/piping and I'm VERY eager to get my dual ram-air setup going...

But before that comes true dual exhaust. I have a donor Y-Pipe off my first truck that was rotted out, but the 8" or so from the manifolds is good pipe. On the first truck I clamped on some elbows and made a hack-job exhaust. This time I'll bolt those pipes up to my manifolds and do some nice elbows with the welder (we didn't have one before). Gonna weld a 2-1/4" to 2-1/2" adapter on the pipe, then run the elbow with 2-1/2" pipe, then when the pipe straightens out, I'll adapt up to 3" and run it out behind the cab, then shoot a 45 degree angle out towards the rear tires.

With those modifications, I'm expecting a lot more oomph in the pedal and about 2 mpg's. I'll update this thread when that's all done.

Then I'll have to get a pyro, and then give 'er a bit more fuel.
But that's ok, since a bit more fuel and air means you need to use LESS to get MORE power. It's weird, I know, but it does actually work that way in ym experience with the K&N on my '65.

Just did my first re-fuel. 16.25 mpg. I was hoping for a little more. I did have very little highway time and drive up and down a mountain. I am also running opti lube in this next tank, didnt in the 1st one.

I'm averaging about 15 for the last few months but the truck has been relegated strictly to "tow pig" duty. I didn't even unhitch the truck all of last week and likely won't this week either.

Overdrive is a bit tall for the loads I'm moving lately so I keep it in 3rd most of the time. Roughly 2300RPM @ 70 MPH.

That reminds me, I gotta start calculating mpg in my 300 straight 6 again. Was getting a maximum of 14.1mpg this winter, driving like a grandma, 90% highway driving @ 55mph!
