Ford should have a warrenty to match the competition IMO. There are still people who factor in the warrenty on a purchase. The current warrenty is still better than the 3/36 they used to give.
As far as the EB lasting in a truck application it is too early to tell. All I have to say is for Fords sake the EB better last in every vehicle they put it in. I do not expect the EB to out last the 4.6l or 5.4l in the F-150 application however we will see. All I know is if the EB better still hold up and perform well beyond 150k miles or it will put some people off and make used trucks with the EB decline in value rapidly.
I did forget about the spark plug issue on the earlier mod motors. Hopefully the 6.2L owners will be able to resolve their issues within the 60K power train period.
I would like to see Ford break away from the pack and offer a comprehensive factory warranty such as a bumper to bumper for 75K or even 100K. The price of new vehicles today definitely justifies a better warranty package.

This is spot-on Tim. With all of the electronics, etc. in the new trucks, they can be a financial nightmare to deal with after the warranty expires. All of the modern conveniences in the new trucks are fantastic but can cause a lot of problems outside of warranty coverage. I think that Ford and others sometimes look at that as a good way to try to keep people in the market for new vehicles. Consumers are sometimes so scared of an out of warranty repair bill that they try to trade / buy new to keep warranty coverage.
Bruce also makes a very good point about the "extended warranty" sales.
