I am installing a set of edelbrock e-street heads along with a performer cam. I decided to go with roller rockers but have no idea how to install them or how to adjust them. if anybody could help me out that would be great. thanks. I forgot to say its a 302 with flat top pistons i will be using a performer intake and a edelbrock 600 cfm carb. thanks again.
I would rotate each clyinder till it is its turn to fire. Install both rockers and finger tighten till the back and forth motion stops. Then 1/2 a turn more.
Theres a way to do 1/2 the cylinders at a time, but I don't have that information anymore
during inital setup you need a black marker and blacken your valve stems. Once your adjustment to rocker arms are complete you roll engine over and then go back and look at pattern on top of valvestem where the roller wears. If pattern is close to center your good. If way off on edge need to think about pushrod length usually is cause of weird pattern on valvestem. This is a check you need to do so you don't have excessive valve guide wear or some other strange valvetrain issue. Just trying save you from a potential headache down the road. easy to do on engine stand and just a tedious little job. catch you later.
forgot to mention if wrong pattern on valvestem your gonna need to get a adjustable pushrod and adjust till pattern comes in. Usually doesn't take to much to achieve proper pattern. Also look closely and make sure your not hitting on spring retainer on btm of rocker arm also. Also need make sure your not rubbing on head where it feeds down to lifters also. causes are block being decked and material taken away and changes pushrod length and heads being milled. Also deck not machined square to crank and changes geometry to head. these are things I've ran across over the years that have created problems especially with FE engines. You have new heads and might not be a issue but things you need to know.
