Speedometer is kicking my butt

Ok this thing is kicking my butt. I have changed the vehicle speed sensor twice. I can turn the cable and it works fine. I install the vss in the truck and the speedometer doesn't work. I don't understand.

The plastic gear inside the transmission could be worn.

Would help to know abit more on the truck, year, mileage etc.

??? Turned the cable and replaced the VSS. What year is your truck?

He might be talking about the vss for the rabs? Anywho if you have a cable check the gear for wear.

Need to know the year of the truck.
Manual or auto trans, 4x4? Those would be helpful too.
Up to 91 is cable driven, and the 92+ is electric as far as I know...
