first, i have torn the trans out already. the vehicle is a '77 e-100 300ci., power nothing. had 3sp. (column shift). i needed the trans for my truck. now that i'm going to scrap the truck i might as well take the engine too.
anyway, where is the best place to hoist the engine out of the bay? i'm going to rent a hoist from a local hardware store. do i attach it from the mounts or do i chain the block some how? i know that i have to take the whole front off of the van to get to the engine. so i have an idea of how the hell i'm going to attempt to remove the engine.
If the engine doesn't have factory lifting eyes on the manifold bolts, just find 2 bolts at least 5/16" that are long enough to put thru a chain link and vaguely opposite so the engine will balance.
