Pulling the engine

So looks like Friday im gong to pull a all niter and pull the engine out the truck . If all goes well I will have a shop with all the tools needed including a overhead hoist having to pull the engine out . now since I will be using the hoist could I pull the engine without taking the whole front end off ? Im hoping to having it out and the replacement back in by Saturday morning , Just going to make sure I have my coffee pot with me for the night . the replacement is a complete out of a 2000 . So any input on this and taking it out ?

I did mine in the barn to do the oil pan, I used a engine hoist/shop crane. The front end has to be removed, if you are using an overhead hoist I would think you could do it without removing the front end but you will need to remove the hood. It's not as hard as it seems.

exactly.....hood or front end....i have never taken the bumper off though like some do....if you go out the top i would definitely take out the radiator though...dont want to accidentally puncture that thing...

Well Friday night is going to be a fun night for me. I will shure to take pics and post them . Should be okay got a repair shop to use so I can use my air tools and such to bad the big bay that has the over head hoist don't have a lift that can lift my truck but that's okay . At least I got a warm and dry place to make this happen. I plan in taking everything but the front clip off sine I got the hoist and can lift it straight up and out . So wish me luck

10 hours!!!! Way to go. I would probably fall into the week category if I tried to do it.

Always like to see pictures. Glad you got it done. Was your 99 an early model or late?

Thanks ya was not that hard to get done with 2 people doing it . We both took certain parts to unbolt and bolt , the hardest part was the turbo clamp for the pipes , other then that it was not that hard , a lot easier then a gas engine . The 10 hrs also Included a few breaks here and there . Bad thing was I had to work the next day too lol glad it was only half a day .and to answer the question before its a late 99.

That's good to hear.

What was the reason for the swap?
