engine change out

Hey Everyone, I have to change out the 292 y block in my 63 f600 and. have a 400 out of my 79 f350 with a t18 ,,beside the different engine mounts and tranny cross member will i be able to bolt the t98 up to my 79 bell housing to keep the trans brake on the truck? the 292 threw a rod out the side of block going about 50 down the hiway,, really blew my day , but want to put the 400 in it out of my 79 f350 then scrap rest of 79 ,Or is there a better engine that would work,, I already have the 400 and it runs good rest of truck is rough, but it runs good Thanks Randy

I'm thinking your T98 has the older "square" trans-to-bell pattern, while the '79 bell will be drilled for the Ford "butterfly" pattern.

You can see the patterns in the pics here:

The 2nd pic down, where they say "4 vs. 8" holes--looks like 4 vs. 6 to me.

More on both, and you can see some pics and they also give dimensions of the pattern:

I'd go for the more moderen engine mayself. and I'd use the trans that is on it also. you can adapt a trans brake to to almost and trans that has a fixed yoke. Although you may need to make a bracket or something. I've seen a few fork lift disc brakes on a trans for a parking brake.
