Hi all,
I just found the FTE site. Looks great. I introduced myself in the Inro section. Hope I can be of help sometime.
My question is : Is there a trick to removing the bottom rubber door gaskets on a '04 F250 supercab? (I mean remove them so I am able to use them again, not just rip them out!)
I want to sand, undercoat, and paint the inside bottom of my doors but can't figure out how to remove the door gaskets without damaging them.
Thanks, but no, these have a 'push tab' of sorts every six inches that are pushed into holes that have been drilled into the (bottom of the) door at the factory. This push tab seems to be a molly type anchor. It is attached to the rubber gasket. The door gasket I'm referring to is the very bottom one, just an inch or so up from the bottom inside edge of the door.
It strikes me that it may be an easy to assemble part that is pushed into place at the factory, only to be replaced if ever removed. I'm hoping this isn't the case. I'm hoping there is a trick to releasing the anchorage.
No, I'm working on the gasket that's attached to the door(s). However, thanks for that link! I think my 7 year old truck is due for some surgical tubing. I think I'll do that while I'm doing the paint .
do-it-yourself auto parts stores have some products that might work for you
my bottom door weatherstrip was hanging out because of some broken tabs... went to the dealer and was told they don't sell the tabs and only include them with a full replacement gasket, but i just needed the TABS!
pulling them out with plyers can break them... prying them out with a screwdriver can also damage the gasket and/or scratch your paint...
i did manage to get one out intact and went to autozone; found a package of identical tabs, a small pry tool and the rest is history. i replaced all the missing tabs and all of the others that were dried-out, brittle and chipped.

Glad to know you were able to find some. I was thinking the same thing.(checking the auto store before hitting the dealer) I agree. Typically the dealer will be happy to sell you the small part you need, along with the new truck it's attached to.
