To stack or not...

I'm going to be redoing my exhaust and the thought came to mind that my truck could use some 'billy fab stacks. My truck doesn't haul anything, so I have no concern with that. The bed is a rusty hulking turd, so cutting it doesn't bother me. I already can't have a conversation in the truck due to the tires, so extra noise isn't a factor (louder system, maybe). I do wheel the truck and now that I have a locker up front, I'm going to be running deeper mud. Plus, the truck is starting to move more towards being a toy, than a daily driver. And, yes it's a gasser.

So today I mocked the stacks up using two Taco Bell cups and wanted to get some input. I kind of like 'em, but do I need saving from myself?

Oh christ please do not desecrate these vehicles with stacks. Two things I hate on trucks, big stacks and bigger than 6 inch lift. Any more than that and its a guarantee that you are either short in stature height and otherwise . Stacks on these just really ruin them, plus they decrease bed space. Now if you wanted to be trick, run your stacks under your truck steps. That is sexy.

In the end its your truck but everytime I see one I make a comment about a guys small stature because thats such a poser thing to do. Anyway, my opinion is to not do it.

I don't think the stacks really ruin the look of my truck. My truck isn't going to win any beauty contests as it is and I'm cool with that. Also, this truck hasn't hauled anything, besides its' spare tires, in over 2 years.

Oh geez, I was getting like WTF? Hahaha...

As for why, I think I covered most of it in my first post. Have stuff to do it for free, redoing exhaust anyways, going to be running deeper mud/water this year, and just kind of like the way it looks. It's a beat up 'billy truck already and it's not like I'm wanting to run 4" chrome stacks and pretend I got a diesel.

no stacks... tuck them up in the frame rails and run then out the side of the bed behind (or infront of) the rear wheels.

As for wheeling in the mud, the only thing high exhaust is going to help with is preventing water from sucking back through the exhaust if the motor dies. The downfall is they like to hang up on trees in the woods.

Those stacks dont look "that bad", what ever you do dont put chrome "drain pipes" in the bed for stacks.

Grey, so basically should someone be bogging and their truck dies they could hydro lock the motor with water being sucked in? Also wouldn't it make sense to snorkel it? It would appear hard to do with a carbed motor I would think...

I came in here to say 'no' to stacks...but after looking at your pictures, I say go for it. Please don't take this the wrong way, but that truck is so hideous that the stacks actually work on it.

Those stacks really dont look to bad. Its something kind of different so id say go for it.

If it were a show truck id say no way in hell and keep duals out the back or something. Also id never put stacks on a gasser, but tahts me.

I was told (by more then one person wiser then I) that if the motor starts to die, kill the key. If it dies on its own it COULD (not saying its going to) suck water back through the exhaust...I could really only see this happening if the motor were to diesel or if there was excessive wear in on the valves (as they wouldnt seal properly).
