I've got one in my excavator, nice little engine, mine's pushing 10000 hours. (Will likely hit that in the next day or two of running.) When you figure that in an excavator it's pretty much full bore or idle, that talks a lot too!!
I don't, but have been keeping my eyes open. They were used a lot in various excavators around the 12-16 ton range, so if you have any scrap/parts dealers for equipment up your way you could check them out. I was told there was an excavator with a timber head identical to mine up north somewhere with fire damage for parts, but never got the details of where.
I might pull mine this fall and do a rebuild, it's starting to leak/use some oil, and would rather plan downtime than have it happen during a busy time of year.
Gotta admit, with a 24V starter, it doesn't care how cold it is to start though!!
Dang Festus that is cool! I so appreciate the offer. So if you live in Maine you are going to take 40 or jump on 44 when you hit Oklahoma City? If you hit 44 you are going to drive straight through the middle of Tulsa, OK. That is where I live.
Not exactly sure of the route ... I'll just keep it pointed towards Maine and when I get there I get there on whatever roads get me there ...
I plan on hitting as many Junk Yards as I can looking for 80-96 stuff, I need an 86 SuperCab, 4x4 Diesel ZF5 and a few other misc. stuff that I hope to find enroute.
