You wouldn't believe what I found running through a doggone HAY FIELD nearby - we have positively identified a PASSION FRUIT VINE that is running along the ground uncultivated. (!)

It must have come from a chucked fruit or an old farmhouse garden...

I dug one up and transplanted it. It looks like the 2 1/2 foot root I pulled out with it will make it work even if the existing length of vine dies.

But I have never seen a flower quite like that!

I thought at first it was Kudzu, because it looked so weird

It turnt out stranger still...

I finally have sprouts in ALL of my tomato spots - but I dunno if there is enough time left in the year for them to do good.

I planted seeds from Weeks of North Carolina (Giant Delicious World Record Variety) and I have enough to start them from the beginning everywhere next year.

*Most of them popped up within 72 hours

Too late for tomatoes, but greens are just around the bend, the weather is weeks away for them.

I'm still getting peppers and a few tomatoes. If anyone has some green tomatoes/.peppers/cucumbers/squash that they are willing to give away, I am willing to come get it (within reasonable driving distance from Chattanooga)...I use it for my chow-chow.

Pity you're not closer to Memphis town - the recent rain has sparked a ton of new growth!

If my wheels hadn't gone down when they did I was planning to grab a few truckloads of honest manure from nearby farms and stables.

Instead I'm now using a sort of granulated fertilizer that supposedly only has to be put down once every two months.

NOTHING grows big 'Maters like cow and horse poop...

Well....I picked the last of the green tomatoes and peppers last week....made 9 pints of chow chow.

I have planted some bulbs and been cutting back hummingbird vines, etc. as they die out. Getting ready for winter....

Lettuce like colder weather...peas will do real well as fall plants until it freezes.

Greens are cold weather plants, just avoid the frost.
