increasing power on 1986 F250 6.9

I am trying to figure out how to turn up the power on my 6.9 Diesel and not wanting to spend a whole lot of money. I am also trying to find 5 in pipe and 5-3 reducers and 8-5 reducers. I will be running two 8in stacks and 5 in from manifolds to muffler then 5 to turnup then go to 8in. I was told i can turn up fuel pump but wasnt sure if that would help or cause problems.

Turning up fuel will cause both power increase AND problems....

If you wanna turn up abit the fuel, you HAVE to install a Pyrometer first as you can melt down the internals with to much fuel...

Opening up the exhaust will defenently help!

drill and tap the manifold at number 8 and turn it up a flat at a time and run it as hard as you can (wot loaded up the biggest hill near you) to see how high your egts get stay below 1100 your pistons will deform if you go higher

I just got this one and its pretty nice. Also affordable. The kit comes with everything needed, you will need to tap a 1/8npt hole for the probe. Click on my signature '3 pillar gauges' and its the gauge in the middle.

black smoke is unburnt fuel, and a waste of money. proper fuel delivery rate is a slight haze at wide open throttle.

To open the exhaust you will need to do something like this:

My non turbo exhaust

Its dual 3" off the header to a 3" y pipe to single 4" exhaust, it will greatly enhance the ability to breathe and make you sit back in your seat.

If you want an intake like this, let me know on PM, It gave me a boost in MPG and more low end power like crazy. The guy i sold mine to when i went turbo got 2-3mpg depending on how he drives. Loves the power.

I guess you could describe mine as a haze, a blackish haze. I thought white smoke was unburnt fuel.

Actually, shipping was free and if you only get one gauge, you wont need a pillar.

hes just talking about a pillar pod mount, not the whole a-pillar gauge triple or double. to further clarify so no confusion, when the engine is idling at no stress, and its smoking white that burns your eyes, like a top fuel dragster, that is unburnt fuel. When you see a turbo diesel spooling up and it has a plume of black smoke spewing out the stack, that is also unburnt fuel when the engine is under stress and cant efficiently burn all the fuel it comes out black. The white is more or less atomized fuel while the black smoke is partially burnt but still wasted fuel. hope that helps, and please be smart here and dont be a coal roller for the purpose of "smoking out" cars or people.
