After starting the truck today and beginning to drive I noticed it was actin funny. It was cold when I started it, but it was not the forst time it had been run today. No matter how much I pushed the gas pedal, it would accelerate slowly till it hit 1500 rpm. It did this for about 2 miles than stopped. I know it could be the epbv, but I didnt hear it close and it was around 75 outside. What are some other possibilities?
I meant it stopped the sluggish acceleration, but I was wrong. Today it did it no matter what. I can stomp on the pedal and it accelerates slowly, not exactly slowly but slower, to 1500 rpm than takes off. The truck is bone stock. All I have done is put in a new torque converter, ball joints(moog), a new lpop, icp and today i put in a driver side valve cover gasket and harness. It did this before i put in the new lpop, icp and valve cover harness. I just got a report back from blackstone as well and they said the engine is in tip top shape for 131000 miles. Maybe the tps or ivs!
If your boost is okay with no weaks, consider a new HPOP. I say this because I just put one in mine. It was made by terminator engineering, T500. It is an updated model 17 with extra's. The late 99 and newer came with the 17 HPOP. What I have found is the injection seems to really work much better and it pulls much better though out the rpm range. I have a DP Tuner but it pulls better in stock seting also. Now I'm not saying this is your problem but it will diffenty make your truck stronger. To me it sounds like a boost leak or worn turbo just to do it below 1500rpm, but the trucks are slugish below 1500 to a point before they build boost that makes power. Mine is e99, I love the way it feels now with both. If interested you can purchase from Clay at riffraff diesel.

That does bring up a good point. I know I have some boost leaks, especially since about a week ago it threw a low boost code. The pedastal is leaking and I intend on doing a full rebuild when I get the time. Also replace the y pipe couplings. I think they are stock. They are pretty grime covered, but I noticed they were orange when changing the uvch. Im pretty sure they are the stock ones.
Thats a great place to start. Let us know how it acts when done. Get it fixed then try the HPOP mod. Won't hurt a thing and you will find out why ford changed them. Chet
That is not to say the ford HPOP is as good, ask around.
